Betty Jane Wheeler

Mrs. Betty Jane Wheeler, age 91, of Lake City, Florida passed away on August 10, 2016, joining her husband and the love of her life time, Willie Wheeler.  The community knew her for her love of  sewing, as she did creations and alterations for many adults and children. She also enjoyed crafting and got so much pleasure from seeing people enjoy the things she made.  She was born in Dalton, Georgia and had resided in Lake City for over eighty years.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Wheeler, her father, John Springfield, her mother, Daisy T. Slate, her sister, Flora Melton and her son-in-law, Kenny Croft. She is survived by her children, Carolyn (Bill) Pettyjohn of Lake City, Florida, Ann (Lamar) Steen of Naples, Florida, Lynda Croft of Providence, Florida and Steve (Leslie) Wheeler of Nashville, Tennessee:  Four granddaughters, Karen (Kevin) Blackwell of Chesterfield, Virginia, Mary Katherine, Sophie and Blair Wheeler all of Nashville, Tennessee:  Four grandsons, Brad Pettyjohn of Raleigh, North Carolina, Brett Pettyjohn of Lake City, Florida, Kevin Croft of Providence, Florida and Aaron Croft of Ashland, Oregon:  Two great-grandsons,  Kohen and Kaden Blackwell of Chesterfield, Virginia.  The family wishes to extend a heart-felt  thanks to Niki Baker, our angel and mom’s very special care giver for three years.  At her request, a private graveside service for family only will be held.  GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W.
