Donald Scott Yates

Mr. Donald Scott Yates, age 59, of St. Augustine, Florida died Sunday, Aug. 7, near New Orleans, Louisiana following a brief illness.  He was born in Jacksonville, Florida and resided in the Taylorville community and Wellborn, Florida before moving to St. Augustine, Florida two years ago.  He was employed with Dann Marine Towing of Chesapeake City, Maryland as a First Mate merchant marine for the past two years and most recently worked for Teco Ocean Shipping of Tampa, Florida for over 20 years.  He was of the Baptist faith, a graduate of Suwannee County High School Class of 1975 and a Coast Guard veteran. He was a kind and loving person and never had a negative comment about anyone. He enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle and made numerous trips across the United States. He was preceded in death by his father, Bernie Yates.  He is survived by his wife. Shannon Yates of St. Augustine, Florida:  His step-daughter,  Jessica (Brian) Fusch of St. Augustine, Florida:  His mother, Joyce Yates of Wellborn, Florida: One sister, Carol (Steve) Brant of High Springs, Florida:  Three grandchildren, Alec O’Connor, Action Fusch and Ezekiel Fusch.  A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Yates will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, Aug.  12, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Gardner Gordon of St. Augustine, Florida officiating.  Interment will be in Wellborn Cemetery, Wellborn, Florida.  Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6 to 8 P.M.
