Welcome to the memorial page for

James "Jay" C. Raulerson

September 15, 2016
James Charles (J.C.) Raulerson, lovingly known by many as Jay, passed into glory on September 15, 2016. Born to Charles Raulerson and Genevieve Crawford Raulerson on August 6, 1926, Jay recently celebrated his 90th birthday. Jay is preceded in death by his parents, brother Rudolph, and nephew Sandy Baumwald. He is survived by sisters Juanita Baumwald and Libby (Raymond) Whittle, both of Macclenny, Florida. He leaves behind a nephew Terry McIntyre, nieces Marilyn Hodges, Phyllis Britt and Lou Ann Ennis plus many great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great nephews and great-great nieces. In his younger years, Jay worked at his father’s sawmill and various jobs around town. A motorcycle accident and several leg conditions never slowed Jay down. He had incredible determination and a strong work ethic so he was always busy no matter the obstacle. He lived at home with his mother until her death in 1996. Jay was then cared for by Rudolph, Inez and Marilyn. Jay was a lifelong resident of St. George, Georgia. He was a member of St. George Church of God which he attended regularly before his illness. He liked big dinners at church and family reunions. He liked being surrounded by friends and family, whom he loved unconditionally. He enjoyed being around people, so Jay never met a stranger. Nicknamed the “Mayor,” he could always be found “uptown” on his golf cart. He will be fondly remembered for his good humor, laughter and iconic overalls. He liked watching western movies. Jay was special and unique to his family and the town of St. George, and will be missed enormously by many. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Raulerson will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, Sept. 17, in the St. George Church of God with Rev. Grady Allbritton, Pastor, officiating and assisted by Rev. James Conner. Interment will be in Boone’s Creek Cemetery, St. George, Georgia. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 12:30 to 2 P.M. at the church with services beginning at 2 P.M. GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, U.S. 90 East, Macclenny, Florida is in charge of arrangements. Please sign the guestbook at www.guerryfuneralhome.net
