John “Alvin” Pons of Melrose, Florida passed away on Thursday May 5, 2016 at North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville. Alvin was born to the late John R. and Myrtle Pons in Windsor, Florida. Mr. Pons proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a member of Eden Baptist Church. He retired from Brasington Cadillac & Oldsmobile where he was an Auto Mechanic for many years. He was co-owner of the Keystone Inn Restaurant in Keystone Heights. Alvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, raising cattle but above all he loved his family.
Alvin leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Belvia Pons, sons, Johnny, Derrick, Darrell, Terry and Todd Pons, daughter, Sharon McRae, sisters, Ann Hodge and Betty Jane Burton, Nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm, Monday, May 9, 2016 at Eden Baptist Church in Hawthorne with reverend James Blevins officiating. The Family will receive friends at 11:00 am prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Providence Methodist Church Cemetery in Windsor.
