Mary Gertrude Johnson

Mary Gertrude Johnson, 91 of Lake City, Florida passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Oakridge Assisted Living in Mayo, FL.   Mary moved to the Lake City area with her family from Ohio in 1970. Mrs. Johnson was of the Catholic faith and a devoted member of Epiphany Catholic Church where she donated many hours of service to her beloved church.  Mary was also a highly respected and much loved teacher at Epiphany Catholic School for twelve years. She was a local business woman, co-owner of the Homestead Restaurant and Tire Mart of Lake City and Chiefland, Florida.  The family feels very blessed and fortunate to have had such a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She had a happy and wonderful life with her late husband David L. Johnson, Sr., along with her children, grandchildren, relatives and many friends. Mrs. Johnson leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Michael Johnson (Cindy), David Johnson, Jr. (Theresa) and John Johnson (Carmen), daughters Jeanne Burke (Jim) and Joanne Ake; brother Richard Boch; sisters, Catherine Weisenberger and Jeanne Stoker; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Epiphany Catholic Church in Lake City, Florida with Father Rob Trujillo officiating.  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations in Mrs. Johnson’s memory be made to Haven Hospice of Lake City or Epiphany Catholic School.  A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Guerry Funeral Home, Arrangements are under the care of Guerry Funeral Home, 2659 SW Main Blvd. Lake City, Florida 386-752-2414. www.guerryfuneralhome.net
