Robert "Bob" Thomas Sheridan

March 21, 1939 ~ February 27, 2017 (age 77) 77 Years Old

Robert "Bob" Thomas Sheridan was born in Albany, NY, on March 21, 1939, to his father William LeRoy Sheridan and mother Agnes Sheridan. At a young age, RT (as his mother called him) distinguished himself with an intense work ethic -- taking his first job as a golf caddy at age 12. While a teenager, Bob (as everyone else called him) had many jobs and became interested in automobiles, motorcycles, and motor homes,  which was his lifelong hobby and source of income. In Albany, Bob graduated from Christian Brothers High School and attended Mooresville College for a year. While serving his country in the Air National Guard, Bob also worked as a bartender, a car body repairman, and owned a moving company. After growing up in New York, Bob lived most of his adult life in South Florida, meeting and marrying his wife Carol Fetters and raising their family in Coral Springs. Bob and Carol could often be seen on the sidelines -- either coaching or cheering on their kids and grandkids in their sports and other activities. Bob had a rich and colorful career, starting many companies including a car lot, telemarketing firm, and a hootenanny. A common thread throughout his life was the claims adjusting profession, which Bob completed his career with a 17-year stint with American Bankers Insurance Group where he was a field adjuster, claims manager, and eventually Director of Claims. Bob and Carol retired and moved to Lake City in 2005, where they enjoyed building a new home, spending time with friends, and driving to visit their kids and grandkids. Bob will be remembered for his quit wit, dry sense of humor, and his undeniable loyalty to his family. Bob is survived by his wife of (almost) 50 years Carol Fetters Sheridan, children Colleen Sheridan Griffiths (Brian) and Bob Sheridan Jr. (Lisa), and grandchildren James, Megan, Monica, and Fiona. Bob will be remembered as a good friend, a great husband, an outstanding father, and the best-ever Grampy – he loved his family! Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill, and nephew Billy. Memorial donations can be made to the Senior Lifestyle Enrichment Center (a service of Columbia County Senior Services, Inc.) in Lake City, FL (http://ccseniors.com).
