Welcome to the memorial page for

Thomas Malcolm Greene

May 27, 1934 ~ March 7, 2017 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Thomas Malcolm Greene, age 82, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2017, with his daughter, Kelly, and his granddaughter, Brandi, at his side. He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Kossie Greene, his mother, Jennie Aline (Kelly) Greene, his beloved sister, Betty Lois (Greene) Thomas, and Leslie Thomas, (brother in law whom he loved deeply). White Springs is where Malcolm called home. He began his military career in the United States Army. From there, he went on to serve as an officer for the Florida Highway Patrol. After leaving the highway patrol, he spent the rest of his law enforcement career with the Gainesville Police Department where he began as a street patrol officer and then was promoted to Detective Sergeant. Many years later a family member me someone who had worked with him at GPD, this gentleman shared that “Tom” (the name he was known by at GPD), was the most stubborn and persistent man he had ever known. He shared that if Tom was after a criminal, he dug his heels in and relentlessly pursued that individual until he secured and arrest! His side career was being the town barber for the sleepy little town of White Springs, FL. He was affectionately known as Scalp’m Malcolm. It is said if you went to Greene’s Barber Shop for a haircut, you certainly got your money’s worth! To his family and dearest friends he was “T-Mackie”, Uncle Mac, Papa, Daddy and faithful friend. His greatest passion in life was his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Every conversation was filled with praise to the Lord. His heart burned passionately to see others come to the Lord. It truly was his mission in life. There is no doubt that he is now in the presence of the one he loved most – Jesus.

Malcolm is survived by brothers, Charles “Buddy” Greene, Dell (Iris) Greene, Steve (Dianne) Greene, and sisters, Sivilla (Carson) Meadows and Bonnie Milton. He is survived by one daughter Kelly (Matthew) Erkinger, and two sons, Todd Greene and Shane (Jennifer) Greene. Grandchildren include Brandi (Kyle) Brownfield, Max Erkinger, Tiffany Hars and Caitlyn Bunch. Through the years countless other children had adopted him as “Papa”. And last but certainly not least, he leaves behind a church family who is just as much blood kin as his biological family. To the brothers and sisters of Ramona Park Church - you will never know what your genuine love and support meant to him… and to us.
