Vonda June McDowell

Mrs. Vonda June McDowell, age 77, of Lake City, Florida went to be with the Lord on Sunday Feb. 18, 2024. Mrs. McDowell had resided in Lake City all of her life. She was employed as a school teacher with the Columbia County School System for over 35 years. She enjoyed reading, going to the beach, her family and teaching the children in school. She was preceded in death by her mother, Vonda Louise Dicks, her father, Ira Meadows Anderson and her step-father, Edward Elvin Dicks. She is survived by her daughters, Heather Larea McDowell and Hillary Kaye McDowell; three sisters, Gloria Juan Folsom, Dottie Thornton and Connie Lea Cook. A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. McDowell will held at 2 P.M. Monday, Feb. 26, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Rodriguez, Pastor of Southside Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery, Lake City, Florida.  Visitation with the family will be held from 1 to 2 P.M. (One hour before services) at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W. Main Blvd., Lake City, Florida
