Georgia Bonita Burnsed, “Bonnie” to those who knew and loved her, went to be with Our Lord on February 6, 2018, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her family. She was one of a set of twin girls born to Clifford and Zillie Coleman Burnsed on February 24, 1934. In 1942, after the death of her mother and twin sister, Emma Juanita, she went to live with her Uncle Johnny and Aunt Jewell Burnsed who raised her and loved her as the child they never had.
Bonnie was a graduate of Macclenny-Glen High School in 1953 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Macclenny where she volunteered as a regular nursery worker for many years. She loved animals, children, embroidering, and playing bingo with her friends at Wells Nursing Home where she resided for the last four years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Louise Rhoden and Emma Burnsed, brothers Albert and L.D. Burnsed. She is survived by her aunt, Eleanor Lyons, and by numerous nieces and nephews, including Patty Lyons who was her caregiver and close friend following the death of her Aunt Jewell.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church in Macclenny on Friday, February 9 at 10:00 AM followed by funeral services at 11:00. Services will be conducted by Rev. James Conner and Dr. Edsel Bone. Burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in the Burnsed Family plot. Arrangements are under the direction of Guerry Funeral Home, US 90 E., Macclenny, Florida.
