Coach Robert "Bob" Reynolds

Coach Robert “Bob” Reynolds, age 79, of Macclenny, Florida passed away on October 11, 2018. He was born in Farwell, Michigan, to the late Shelby James Reynolds and Gloria Huff Reynolds. The Reynolds family moved to Jacksonville, Florida where Bob attended Fletcher High School. He was an all-state athlete and lettered in football, baseball, and basketball. Bobby set multiple state records in football.

He attended FSU and graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Education, and went on to Ole Miss where he obtained his Master’s in Education.  Bob then returned to Florida and began his teaching and coaching careers.

Coach Bob started his coaching career at his alma mater, Fletcher High School, in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. There, he shared his knowledge and passion for sports and education.  He later served the Baker County community as Recreational Director.

He then continued his educational career as a teacher, mentor and coach in the Baker County School System, as well as devotedly serving as Athletic Director, until his retirement. During his coaching career, he coached women’s softball, basketball, and volleyball. He gravitated towards the women’s sports because he wanted the privilege of coaching his daughter, Brenda.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Faye Love Reynolds; his mother, Gloria Huff Reynolds; and brother, Donald Reynolds.

Coach Bob is survived by his daughters, Brenda Faye Reynolds of San Diego, CA; Beverly (Mark) Larimer of Sturgis, MI, and Barbara (Jim) Bozeman of Wewahitchka, FL; and his two sons, Bruce (Tonya) Canady of Macclenny, FL and Robert (Cary) White of Sebring, FL; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Babe Corwin of Ponte Vedra, FL and Patricia Niehaus of Jacksonville Beach, FL; and special family friends, Philip and Christina Monds of Macclenny, FL.

A funeral to honor the life of Coach Bob will be held on Tuesday, October 16, at 11:00 AM, at Calvary Baptist Church in Macclenny, FL.  Brother Donnie Williams will be officiating the services.

The family will receive friends for a visitation and gathering on October 15, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home in Macclenny, FL.

Coach Bob Reynolds’ interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Macclenny. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Guerry Funeral Home of Macclenny. 904-259-2211 www.guerryfuneralhome.net 

In lieu of flowers, Coach Bob would prefer donations be made to The American Cancer Society, where he was a longtime supporter in honor of his beloved wife.
