Mrs. Geraldine Crews Altman, age 92, of Macclenny, Florida died Friday, Sept. 20, in the Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital, Macclenny, Florida following a brief illness. Mrs. Altman was life long resident of Macclenny, Florida and retired from the Baker County Sheriffs Dept. as a cook at the county jail after 10 years of service. She also was the former owner of Macclenny Shoe Store for over 25 years and a former substitute school teacher. She was a member of the New Life Church of God, Macclenny, Fla. and a former Sunday School teacher for many years. She enjoyed cooking, was a distributor of fruit cakes for her family and was referred to as the “Biscuit Maker of Baker County”. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie A. Altman, two sons, James Freddy Tyson and Charlie A. Altman, Jr. and her parents, Josie and Annie E. Dugger Crews. She is survived by her two daughters, Joann (Randy) Powell and Rhoda (Bill) Miller both of Glen St. Mary, Florida: one brother, Joe (Betty) Crews of Macclenny, Florida: Eleven grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Altman will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, Sept. 25, in the New Life Church of God, Macclenny, Florida with Rev. Jack Pope, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Macclenny, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at her church.
