Mrs. Gladys Irene “Granny” Skinner, age 90, of Lake City, Florida died Saturday, Oct. 7, at her residence following a long illness. She was born in Watertown, Florida and had resided in Lake City, Florida all of her life. She worked as a sales clerk with Van H. Priest Dime Store for many years, was a baby sitter to many children and enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a member of the Lake City Church of God and enjoyed needlepoint, reading, crossword puzzles and crocheting. She was the widow of the late Alton Clayton Skinner and was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ida Feagle Harper and two siblings, Margie Coates and James “Buddy” Harper. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Dianne Wood of Lake City, Florida: Two sisters, Freddie Mae Johnson and Lillie Bell Lopez both of Lake City, Florida: Three grandchildren, Kimberly I. Skinner (Keith Hudson), Amanda Register and Whitney Wood: Three great-grandchildren, Evan Wood, Rhyli Register and Rorie Lee.
A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Skinner will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, Oct. 11, in the Lake City Church of God with Rev. Ray Johns, Sr. Pastor at Christ Central Ministries, officiating. Interment will be Memorial Cemetery, Lake City, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 5 to 7 P.M.
