Mr. Howard Bulthuis, Sr., age 84, of Lake City, Florida died Friday, Aug. 10, in the Suwannee Valley Care Center, Lake City, Florida following a long illness. Mr. Bulthuis had resided in Lake City, Florida all of his life and was the former owner-partner of H & R Hardware, retired as a staff sergeant with the Florida National Guard in 1982 after 31 years of service and retired from the City of Lake City Utilities Department after 20 years of service. He was a graduate of Columbia High School Class of 1951. He was preceded in death by his wife, Constance D. “Connie” Bulthuis, his parents, Clarence and Grace Howard Bulthuis, brother, Richard Bulthuis, sister, Katherine Bulithuis and step-daughter, Candy Cooper. He is survived by his son, Howard “Scooter” (Cathy) Bulthuis, Jr. of Lake City, Florida: Two step-children, Jill Harris of Lake City, Florida and Mike (Gloria) Cooper of Jacksonville, Florida: Seven grandchildren, Dawson Bulthuis, Gracie Harris, Cadee Cooper, Derek Espenship, Josh Cooper, Mikee Cooper and Ashely Salvatore: Two sisters, Frances Meeks of Lake City, Florida and Louise Murrill of Tallahassee, Florida: Two brothers, Robert Bulthuis and Thomas Bulthuis both of Lake City, Florida. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Bulthuis will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, Aug. 18, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Gaylard, Pastor of the First Advent Christian Church officiating and assisted by Rev. Jim Steele, Pastor of the Huntsville Baptist Church . Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery, Lake City, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, Aug. 17, at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W.
