Mr. J. D. Yarbrough, age 84, of Glen St. Mary, Florida died Monday, May 14, in the Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital, Macclenny, Florida following an extended illness. Mr. Yarbrough was born in the Baxter community of Baker County, Florida and resided in Raiford, Florida before moving to Glen St. Mary, Florida 42 years ago. He worked for the Department of Corrections U.C.I. Raiford, Florida and retired with the rank of sergeant after 33 years of service. He attended the Pine Level Church, was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was preceded in death by his son, Jay Yarbrough, a granddaughter, Cyndle Ireland, a brother, Eulis Yarbrough and his parents, John and Emma Bennett Yarbrough.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty R. Yarbrough of Glen St. Mary, Florida: His daughter, Cherie (William) Ireland of Sanderson, Florida: Two sons, Richard (Kim) Yarbrough of Baxter, Florida and Jeff (Deann) Bennett of Providence, Florida: Two brothers, Everett G. Yarbrough of Jacksonville, Florida and James M. (Janice) Yarbrough of Bogalusa, La.: Six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.
A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Yarbrough will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, May 17, in the Pine Level Church, Baxter, Florida with Rev. Fred Raulerson, Pastor, officiating and assisted by Rev. Richard Yarbrough. Interment will be in Cedar Creek Cemetery, Sanderson, Florida.
