Mr. James Edward Harper, age 67, of Lake City, Florida died Monday, Dec. 24, in the V.A. Medical Center, Lake City, Florida following a long illness. Mr. Harper was born in Tifton, Georgia and resided in Jacksonville, Florida before moving to Lake City, Florida 40 years ago. He worked as a tanker driver for Anderson-Columbia Company, Lake City, Florida for 10 years. He enjoyed fresh water fishing. He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Harper and his parents, James C. and Nell Shealy Harper. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Harper of Lake City, Florida: Four sons, Jeffrey (Sibylle) Harper of Navarre, Florida, T.C. (Gabby) Harper, Dustin Harper and Dylan Harper all of Lake City, Florida: Three step-children, Kelly (Jack) Watson and Donnie (Stephanie) Hardin both of Yulee, Florida and Allie Shively of Middleburg, Florida: One brother, Tracy (Kathy) Harper of Lake City, Florida: Nine grandchildren also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Harper will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, Dec. 29, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Travis Buchanan of The City Church of Lake City, officiating. Interment will be in Hopeful Cemetery, Columbia County, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 1 to 2 P.M.
