Mr. James Lee “Jimmy” Pifer, age 78, of Glen St. Mary, Florida died Monday, Oct. 7, in the St. Vincent’s Riverside Medical Center, Jacksonville, Florida following an extended illness. Mr. Pifer was born in Red Line, Pa. and resided in Jacksonville, Florida before moving to Glen St. Mary, Fla. 38 years ago. He was a former service manager with Duval Ford, Jacksonville, Florida and then became a self employed distributor with Mac Tools Distributors, Jacksonville, Florida for over twenty years until his retirement. He loved working on old cars and trucks, loved watching NASCAR and old western movies. He was preceded in death by his son, James Pifer, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lynda Pifer of Glen St. Mary, Fla.: four children, Jerry Pifer of Middleburg, Fla., Mitchell (Lynn) Pifer of Glen St. Mary, Fla., Lisa Pifer (Robert King) of McAlpin, Fla. and Wanda Pifer Crews of Jacksonville, Fla. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Pifer will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, Oct. 10, in the Christian Fellowship Temple, Macclenny, Florida with Rev. David Thomas, Pastor, officiating and assisted by Rev. Justin Griffis, Associate Pastor of the Sanderson Congregational Holiness Church. Interment will be in South Prong Cemetery, Sanderson, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 1 to 2 P.M. Thursday (One hour before services) at the church.
