Mr. James “Jim” Brantley Fraser, age 80, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away on June 14, 2019, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL. Jim was born on February 4, 1939, in Leesburg, FL, but was a lifelong resident of Macclenny, FL. He was a member of Raiford Road Church and loved his church family.
Jim served his country in the United States Navy. His career included 26 years of military support through numerous companies and civil service. Later in life, Jim worked for Pettyco Express Company where he would eventually retire. His love for the University of Florida Gators began as a student at UF and continued throughout his life. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing, watching Gator games, and being a very involved Papa to his grandchildren. Jim was a devoted and loving husband, always making sure Mary was happy. He was famously known as the “Bakery Manager” for Ms. Mary Cakes. He was adored and will be greatly missed by many.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Ernan Fraser and Bessie Fraser McBride; and sister, Verna (CA) Hunt.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Ms. Mary Livingston Fraser; his children, Jarvis (Lisa) Fraser, Sharon Griffiths, Marcheta (Gordon) Crews, Priscella Livingston, Billy (Laura) Livingston; his 11 grandchildren, Alyssa, Kali, Erin, Jessica, Kassie, Chelsea, Robin, Molly, Christian, Harli, and Will; 21 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (George) Brueshaber and Edith (Bob) Mobley; numerous extended family members also survive.
A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Fraser will be held on Monday, June 17, at 11:00am, at his church, Raiford Road Church in Macclenny. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Sunday, June 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the church. His interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Reverend John A. Raulerson, Pastor of Raiford Road Church, and Reverend Eddie Griffis, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Cuyler, will be officiating the services.
