Jerry Zane Mathis

Mr. Jerry Zane Mathis, age 83, of Lake City, Florida died Thursday, May 18, at his residence following a brief illness.  He was a native of Bartow, Florida and resided in Lakeland, Florida before moving to Lake City, Florida in 2014.  He was a retired Master Sgt. with the U.S. Airforce after serving for 25 years.  He worked as a carpenter in the construction industry after his Air Force career.  He attended Christ Central Ministries, enjoyed being a minister while in the service and collecting coins. Mr. Mathis was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Monroe Mathis and Thelma Ruth Benton, as well as his sister Delores Mathis Bedley.

He is survived by his four daughters, Darlene (Bill) Standlick, Debra (Eddie) Blair, Beverly Feagle and Joyce Mathis all of Lake City, Florida:  The loving mother of his children, Marjorie Mathis Edmunds of Lake City, Florida:  One sister, Betty Jean Perry of Tennessee:  Five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive.  A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Mathis will be held at 3 P.M. Monday, May 22, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. David Hancock officiating. Final disposition will be by cremation.  Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 1 to 3 P.M.
