John Van Mobley

Mr. John Van Mobley, age 63, of Lake City, Florida died Wednesday, Nov. 13, at his residence following a long illness. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida and lived in Branford and McAlpin, Florida before moving to Lake City, Florida 30 years ago. He had worked as a roofer and in the labor union in Jacksonville, Florida for many years and most recently as a stock clerk with Lowes and a carpenter with Homes of Merit in Lake City. He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Gene Mobley, his adopted mother, Helen Mobley, his step-mother, Burnadean Bryant Hinson and a step-son, Paul Daniel Hooten. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Mobley of Lake City, Florida: His son, David Reid of North Charleston, South Carolina: four grandchildren, Madelyn Reid, Abigail Reid, Logan Reid and Lyli Reid: Two brother-in-laws, John Laurie Reid and Michael Joel Reid: Two sister-in-laws, Tricia Reid and Susie Reid: Three nieces, Maria Knapp, Bobbie Jo Mentz and Crystal Johnson and many more nieces and nephews; Two sisters, Arthurene Mobley (Curt Boone) Ricketson of Lake City, Florida and Bonnie Finley of McAlpin, Florida:  A graveside funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Mobley will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, Nov. 18, in the Pinemount Baptist Church Cemetery, McAlpin, Florida with Rev. John Harrison officiating.Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 1 to 2 P.M.
