Mrs. Judy Elaine Johannes, age 64, of Glen St. Mary, Florida died Saturday, Nov. 3, in the Acosta-Rau Center for Caring, Jacksonville, Florida following an extended illness. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida and moved to Macclenny, Florida in 1977 and then to Glen St. Mary, Florida in 2003. She had retired from Prudential Life Insurance Company after 28 years of service, then operated her bookkeeping business from her home and then purchased Advantage Tax and Business Services, Macclenny, Florida in 2009. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Macclenny, Florida and current Sunday School Director and Bell Choir Director. She also was former children’s choir director and a choir member of the church. She enjoyed crafting, embroidery and did vinyl etching work. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion Silas and Isabelle Smith Griffis. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, H. LeRoy Johannes of Glen St. Mary, Florida: Two daughters, Melanie (Kenny) Seals of Kissimmee, Florida and Jennifer Mobley of Macclenny, Florida: Two step-daughters, Melissa Ann Norris of Lexington Park, Maryland and Catharine (Michael) Perry of Lake City, Florida: One step-son, Donald LeRoy (Angela) Johannes of Lexington Park, Maryland: Two sisters, Evelyn Walden of Jacksonville, Florida and Ginny “Bebe" Starling of Middleburg, Florida: Two brothers, Wayne Griffis of Keystone Heights, Florida and Buddy Griffis of Maxville, Florida: Eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Johannes will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, Nov. 8, in the First Baptist Church, Macclenny, Florida with Dr. Edsel Bone, Pastor, officiating. A same day graveside service will be held at 2:30 P.M. in the Jacksonville National Cemetery, Jacksonville, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6 to 8 P.M.
