Mrs. Linda Sue Stokes, age 64, of Keystone Heights, Florida passed away on July 11, 2018 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Clay County. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was born on August 14, 1953 to the late Johnnie W. Hamilton and Mrs. Bessie L. Hamilton. Linda married the love of her life, the late Cleve Arthur Stokes, and they would have 4 daughters. Linda enjoyed being a housewife and raising her daughters and eventually grandchildren. In her spare time, she loved being outside. She loved to watch hummingbirds and garden as well as being in the sunshine at the beach. She also enjoyed dancing and listening to music. She was a member of Gadara Baptist Church and she is in a much better place right now. She was preceded in death by her father, Johnnie Hamilton, and her husband, Cleve Stokes.
Mrs. Stokes is survived by her daughters, Melinda Hart of Keystone Heights, FL, Loretta Lindsey of Middleburg, FL, Tammy (Keith) Warren of Orange Park, FL, and Joan Freed of Ocala, FL; mother, Bessie Hamilton of Crystal River, FL; nine grandchildren, Kenny Freed, Amber Warren, Briana Freed, Steven Freed, Crystal Warren, Skylar Lindsey, Shianne Lindsey, Seth Hart, and Shane Hart; 7 great-grandchildren, Mia, Gunner, Jaydence, Jaliyah, Journei, Serrarii, Miranda; one brother, Bill (Sue) Hamilton of Crystal River, FL; five sisters, Mary Ann (Larry) Welch, Katie (Philip) Hessinger both of Crystal River, FL, Betty (Fulton) Yancy of Westville, FL, Louise (Johnny) Squires of Horseshoe Beach, FL, and Tina (Jim) Burr of Ponte Vedra, FL. Numerus nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Stokes will be held on Saturday, July 21, at 11:00 AM at the Gadara Baptist Church in Keystone Heights, FL with Pastor Shawn House officiating. The family will receive friends for a visitation at 10:00 AM (One hour before services) at the church.
