Mr. Marlen Pearl Roberts, age 94, of Lake City, Florida died Monday, Dec. 17, at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Roberts was born in Galien, Michigan and resided in Doraville, Georgia for over 40 years before moving to Lake City, Florida one year ago. He worked as an industrial engineer all of his life, his last employment being with Visual Systems, Chamblee, Georgia. .During his career, he was responsible for contracting and managing sub-contractors installing flight control systems at Cape Canaveral, Florida for the space missile program in 1959-60. He was a member of the Embry Hills United Methodist Church, Doraville, Georgia and a graduate of Notre Dame University in 1950 with and Industrial engineering degree. He was an Army veteran of W.W. II and enjoyed fishing, camping and was active in the youth group and planning committee at his church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Jean Roberts and his parents, Sidney P. and Augusta Kramer Roberts. He is survived by two daughters, Carol Toriani of Lake City, Florida and Diane Roberts of Athens, Georgia: Three sons, Brian (Nancy) Roberts of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Paul Roberts of Lake City, Florida and David (Liz) Roberts of Tucker, Georgia: Three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive. A memorial service will be held at a later date in the Embry Hills United Methodist Church, Doraville, Georgia. GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W. Main Blvd. Lake City, Florida.
