Mr. Melvin Guy Miller, Sr., age 89, of Macclenny, Florida died Sunday, July 7, in the St. Vincent Riverside Hospice, Jacksonville, Florida following an extended illness. Mr. Miller was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee and resided there most his life until moving to Macclenny, Florida two years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy for over 20 years and then worked as a supervisor with Service Master until his retirement. He attended the Baldwin Assembly of God Church, was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and enjoyed traveling the U.S.A. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Wiley and Lois Lorraine McDaniel Miller, Sr. and his daughter, Lois Diane Lovvorn. He is survived by two sons, Melvin Guy Miller, Jr. of Macclenny, Florida and Gary Wayne Miller of Orange Park, Florida: one sister, Dorothy Hardeman Petty of Dover, Florida: Five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive. A graveside funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Miller will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, July 11, in the Jacksonville National Cemetery, Jacksonville, Florida with Rev. Bert Hutson, Pastor of the Baldwin Assembly of God Church, officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6 to 8 P.M.
