Sharon Jean Shumate Perdue, age 62, of Sanderson, Florida passed away on April 11, 2018 at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Baker County, Florida. She retired from Northeast Florida State Hospital and Gateway Community Services. She spent her retirement enjoying her grandchildren and extended family. Sharon was a simple, kind, and loving person who loved going to the mountains. She is preceded in death by her parents Coy M. and Pearl Shumate.
She is survived by her children, Charles (Jackie) Perdue of Sanderson, FL and Stephanie (George) Jackson of Glen St. Mary, FL; five grandchildren, Sidnie, Garrett, and Allie Fauble of Sanderson, FL, Ian and Ellie Jackson of Glen St. Mary, FL; brothers, Wayne (Pete) Alford and Steve (Michelle) Shumate both of Sanderson, FL and Mervin (Nancy) Shumate of Athens, TN; sisters, Linda (Joey) Giddens and Denise (Keith) Walker both of Glen St. Mary, FL and Connie (Erbie) Terrell and Kim (Allen) Crews both of Sanderson, FL. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service to honor Ms. Perdue will be held on Saturday, April 14, at 2:00 pm at Dinkins New Congregational Methodist Church. Visitation and gathering with the family will be held from 12:00 to 2:00pm on Saturday before the service. Rev. Timothy Alford will be officiating the services. Interment will be at Cedar Creek Cemetery in Sanderson, FL. Steve Shumate, Joseph Alford, Jamie Rowe, Josh Newmans, Travis Norman, and Lonnie Alford will be serving as pallbearers for Ms. Perdue’s service.
