Mrs. Shirley J. Prevatt, age 80 of Glen St. Mary, FL passed away Tuesday, May 28 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Jacksonville, FL following a prolonged illness. Mrs. Prevatt was born in Monroe, LA to the late Joy Martin and Annie Wheeler. She resided in Reedsville, GA until she moved to Glen St. Mary in 1977 where she lived out the rest of her life. Mrs. Prevatt loved taking care of her grandchildren, bowling in a bowling league, clog dancing, and collecting antiques. Mrs. Prevatt attended Macclenny Primitive Baptist Church, Macclenny, FL until her health kept her from visiting. She is preceded in death by her parents: Her infant daughter, Debra Jean Prevatt, and her great grandchild, Camden Ray Powless. Mrs. Prevatt is survived by her loving husband, Vernon Prevatt: one son, Donald E. Prevatt (Nancy) of St. Cloud, FL: two daughters, Darla J. Durrence (Gary) of Glen St. Mary, FL and Dwana L. Martin (Neal) of White Springs, FL: One brother, Johnny Ray Martin (Patsy) of Arkansas: Four sisters, Hattie L. Maddox of Atlanta, GA, Virginia Ann Milliorn of Atlanta, GA, Dale Marie Beeson(Al) of Pineville, LA, and Melinda Joyce Martin (Clarence) of Glen St. Mary, FL. : Nine Grandchildren, Lena (Kevin) West, Ryan Prevatt, Lori (Shane) Baldwyn, Renee (Ronnie) Courson, Daniel (Brittany) Powless, Lisa (Jimmy) Starling, Holly (Timothy) Roberts, Heather (Dustin) Lee, Jessica (Steven) Sunstrum, Terra (Tres) Gordon, as well as 28 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Prevatt will be held Friday, May 31 at 10 A.M. in Macclenny Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder David Crawford officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be held Thursday, May 30 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Guerry Funeral Home Chapel, Macclenny, FL.
