Alvin "Al" Rollison, 83, owner of Lake City Tire, passed away from pneumonia on Sunday night. He was born in Bell Florida on June 28th, 1938 and grew up in Horseshoe Beach before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving his country for six years. Al then attended a business college in Jacksonville FL and afterward began his career with the Goodyear Tire and Rubbing company in 1960, working as an administrator in their Jacksonville regional office.
He was promoted to sales in 1963 and held various roles before leaving the company and seeking out on his own in 1975, opening Pine Castle Tire in Orlando FL. Al lived in various locales such as New Orleans, Tallahassee and finally Lake City, where he opened Lake City Tire in 1996. An avid NASCAR and automobile racing fan he also enjoyed golf, football and reading car magazines.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sweden and Joseph Rollison, as well as his siblings, Evelyn Corbin, Billy Rollison, Hal Rollison, and James Rollison. Al is survived by his wife of 43 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Rollison and their son; Nicholas Rollison, other sons Al (Jr) and his wife Lisa and their two sons, Trevor and Josh. Michael Rollison (Rick Martin) and their (Michael and Al Jr) mother Ann.
Al Sr. was an entrepreneur who loved his family and he left behind an even bigger family composed of relatives, best friends, good friends, employees and customers that he met along his journey. In lieu of flowers, please send a small donation to the American Diabetes Association
The funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Rollison will be held at 1 P.M. Saturday, Dec. 4, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Bass officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 12 to 1 P.M. (One hour before services). Final disposition will be by cremation. GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W.
