Beulah Mae Yarbrough Sands Wilford, 94, a Baker County native, passed away on October 31, 2023. Beulah was born on November 26, 1928 to James Corbett Yarborough, Sr. and Sadie Mae Thrift Yarborough. After Beulah graduated from Macclenny-Glen High School as Salutatorian a year early, she graduated from Jones Business college in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a pioneer for women being highly successful in business, even as early as the 1950’s, as she owned several businesses including Dunes Golf & Country club and 3 propane gas companies. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had many hobbies, including golf and cooking.
Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, spouses: Holland Sands & George B. Wilford, siblings: Edward Leroy “Teddy Bear” Yarbrough, Mary Esther Yarbrough Ollearo, Hazel Yarbrough Collins, Lillie Louidean Yarbrough Griffis, James C. Yarbrough, Jr., and Delta Jean Yarbrough Chesser, and step-children: Wayne Beasley Wilford and Michael Beasley Wilford.
She is survived by her siblings: Nina Bell Yarbrough Davis and F. Wayne Yarborough (Betty) , children: Sanella Raye Sands Lindsey (Paul), Holland Kendrick Sands (Teri), and Donald Beasley Wilford (Tracy), 14 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 904 S 5th St., Macclenny, Florida on Saturday, November 4th. Family reception will be at 12 pm, general reception for family & friends at 1 pm, and funeral services at 2 pm, with interment immediately following at Peoria Cemetery, 142 Jefferson Avenue, Orange Park, Florida.
