Mrs. Bonnie Faye Mathis, age 84, of Macclenny, Florida passed away Friday, Dec. 30, in the St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospice, Jacksonville, Florida following an extended illness. Mrs. Mathis was born in Sanderson, Florida and lived in Jacksonville, Florida for many years before moving to Macclenny, Florida over 20 years ago. She worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company and the JEA (Jacksonville Electric Authority) for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church, Macclenny, Florida, a former member of the Macclenny Women’s Club and loved traveling and working in her yard. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy H. and Gracie Davis Harvey, Sr., and her siblings, Lula Belle Haines and Roy “Bubba” Harvey, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Chuck) Kemp of Jacksonville, Florida; her son, Greg Mathis of Macclenny, Florida; two sisters, Barbara Arzie of Sanderson, Florida and Rita Menter of Jacksonville, Florida; one brother, Rick Harvey of Glen St. Mary, Florida; two grandchildren, Brittney (Greg) Knowles and Ansley (Tyler) Duerson; four great-grandchildren also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Mathis will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, Jan. 5, in the Christian Fellowship Temple with Rev. David Thomas, Pastor, officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10 to 11 A.M. (One hour before services) at the church. Interment will be Cedar Creek Cemetery, Sanderson, Florida.
