Ms. Burnice Jean Byrd, age 87, of Macclenny, FL passed away Friday, October 27th at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Macclenny, FL to the late Londa and Lillie Pierce Thrift and was a lifelong resident of Baker County, FL. Ms. Burnice was a graduate of Baker County High School, Class of 1954 and worked as a bookkeeper for L.C. Shave Timber Broker for many years. She was a member of the Macclenny Church of Christ and loved playing cards and scrapbooking. Ms. Burnice found joy in living a simple life, watching birds from her front porch, tending to her plants and cherishing her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her late husband, Travis Albert Byrd, Jr., and her son in law, Billy Pittman. Ms. Burnice is survived by her daughters, Sherri Kelley (Charles) of Jacksonville, FL, Susan Pittman of Jacksonville, FL, Sandi Griffis (Kevin) of Lawtey, FL, Robin Weber (Jeff) of Macclenny, FL and Jennifer Crummey (David) of Macclenny, FL: one brother, Jimmie Thrift (Essie) of Macclenny, FL: one sister, Kaye Warner (Marvin) of Macclenny, FL. Twelve grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Ms. Byrd will be held at 1 P.M., Monday, October 30th in Manntown Cemetery with Rev. Sam Kitching officiating.
