Mrs. Christene Mixon, age 84, of Macclenny, Florida died Thursday, Nov. 25, in the Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital, Macclenny, Florida following an extended illness. Mrs. Mixon was born in Ponce De Leon, Florida and had resided in Macclenny, Florida since 1951. She worked for 30 years in the dietary department at North Florida State Hospital and retired in 1994. She then worked as a home health aide with the Baker Counseling on Aging for eight years. She was a member of the Christian Fellowship Temple. She enjoyed baking cakes and helping with the elderly. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charlie W. “Red” Mixon and her parents, Russell and Mary E. Ramer Gibson and three brothers, Tom Gibson, Lonnie Gibson and Marcus Gibson. She is survived by her three daughters, Linda Dickey (Paul Maddox) of Freeport, Florida, Pat (Ray) Hodges of Macclenny, Florida and Charlotte (Brent) Perry of Baldwin, Florida; four grandchildren, Linda “Punkin” Cote, Brandy Brown, Thomas Dickey and Megan Pearce; six great-grandchildren, Ryan Cote, Brandon Brown, Dylan Cote, Victoria Brown, Paitlynn Pearce and Preslie Pearce; and her best friend and cousin, Willie Mae Ward of Panama City, Florida. A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Mixon will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, Nov. 29, in the Christian Fellowship Temple with Rev. David Thomas, Rev. Tim Thomas and Rev. David Dinkins officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Macclenny , Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10 to 11 A.M.
