Mr. David Travis Herndon went to see his Lord on Saturday August 28, 2021. Travis was born in Winter Park, Florida on October 8, 1975. Because of his dad’s job, Travis lived in Texas, Delaware and Indiana. After graduating from Zionsville High School in Zionsville, Indiana. Travis returned to his first love, Florida. He spent most of his life in the St. Augustine, Florida area. Travis loved to cook and graduated from the Culinary Institute in St. Augustine. He was a chef at several restaurants in the area. Travis loved the beach and was an avid surfer. He loved his music and taught himself how to play the guitar. Johnny Cash and Elvis were his favorites. Travis wore a lot of black. Chase Elliott was his NASCAR man. He loved football and the Florida Gators. Travis never met a stranger. He was bigger than life and loved to live his life to the fullest. He was always the center of any celebration. He loved his family and friends more than life itself. Travis was employed as an estimator with Besch & Smith Civil Group in St. Augustine, Florida. He loved his job and the people he worked with. Travis was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John Henry and Lois Herndon and his maternal grandparents James Alva and Violet Deas. He is survived by his parents, David and JoAnn Herndon of Lake City, Florida; sisters, Jan (Richard) Timm of Iola, Texas and Brenda (Dean) Black of Lake City, Fla.; nieces Colby (Caleb) Sullivan of Macclenny, Fla. and Camryn Black of Lake City, Fla.; nephews, Jayme Timm and Dustin (Payten) Timm both of Iola, Texas; great nephews, Jackson and Carver Sullivan; his partner Kim Forbes and her daughters, Brianna, Ava and Ella whom he loved dearly. A funeral service to honor the life of Travis will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, Sept. 3, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Pastor Ryan Tuten and Pastor T.J. Gillford officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Columbia County, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10 to 11 A.M. Friday (One hour before services). Family and friends are invited to come to David and JoAnn’s home following the service for food and fellowship. GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W.
