Mr. David Wallace Kirkman, age 84, of Lake City, Florida passed away Monday, Sept. 19, in the Solaris Healthcare Center, Lake City, Florida following a long illness. Mr. Kirkman was born in Highland Park, Michigan and had resided in Lake City, Florida since 1960. He was a former employee of Aero Corp. and retired as an electrician with the Columbia County School System with over 30 years of service. Mr. Kirkman was also a retired minister, having served as pastor of the Welcome Congregational Holiness Church for over 23 years. He was a member of the church, an Air Force veteran and also enjoyed fishing, playing his guitar and singing gospel music. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Pauline Watson Kirkman. He is survived by wife of 61 years, Liz Kirkman of Lake City, Florida; three sons, Mike (Evelyn) Kirkman, Scotty (Lisa) Kirkman and Darryl Kirkman all of Lake City, Florida; one sister, Betty Gladfielter of Detroit, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Michael (Lorie) Kirkman, Eric (Victoria) Kirkman, Mikey (Sara) Kirkman, Ray, Mikey and Brandon Bingel and Kyle Noegel; nine great-grandchildren also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Kirkman will be held at 4 P.M. Friday. Sept. 23, in the Welcome Congregational Holiness Church, 3315 216th Street, Lake City, Florida 32025 with Rev. Lance Crews, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Williams Cemetery, Lake City, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 2 to 4 P.M.
