David H. Little, 69, of Macclenny, Florida, was called to his heavenly home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Haven Hospice, Orange Park, FL. He was a member of Raiford Road Church in Macclenny. He went on several building mission trips to Honduras, served in the kitchen, and served on the Fall Festival Committee for several years.
David was born in Jacksonville, Florida on August 9, 1954, to George H. Little & Onestine Jordan Little. He graduated from Ribault Senior High School in 1972. After graduation, David pursued a career in the electrical industry. He was inducted into the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers on April 1, 1976 and graduated from the Jacksonville Joint Electrical Apprenticeship in June of 1977. David later received his designation as a Master Electrician. David was awarded his I.B.E.W. 45 year service pin in 2022.
David traveled extensively with his trade working on nuclear power plants and large industrial construction sites including the St. Johns River Power Park. He spent almost two years working in New York City renovating the Lexington Subway Line. When he returned home he worked for Baptist Hospital & St. Vincents Hospital & Winn-Dixie Stores. In 2011, David and Beth acquired a children’s train. David became the beloved Engineer of The Little Barrels of Fun Train. He brought so much joy to the many children who rode the train. He said, “It was the best job ever”.
David met his future life partner, Beth Head, in a third year Spanish class. After dating three years, they were married on February 1, 1974. Beth traveled the country with him as he made a living. “On the Road Again” became their theme song. In December 1982, David & Beth received their greatest gift, a beautiful baby girl, Rachel M. Little. David’s heart melted as he gave her evening bottles where Rachel would run her little fingers in his beard and sigh as she went to sleep. David was Rachel’s biggest advocate. He saw that she played soft ball. They participated in the Indian Princess Program where they did activities with other dads & daughters. David & Rachel attained their black belts from Pak’s Karate. David, Beth, & Rachel loved camping in their RV in the Great Smoky Mountains and North Georgia.
David was predeceased by his parents George & Onie Little, brother, James E, Little, his wife, Catherine Little, Sister-in -Law, Gloria Marsh, her husband, John Marsh, and brother-in-law Johnson Bryan.
He is survived by Beth Little, his wife of nearly 50 years, Rachel Little (his Princess), his sister, Melva Jordan (Joe), sister in law Robin H. Bryan, Nephews: Mike Little, Alan Little, Andreas Jordan (Joanna), Neices: Kelli Marsh, Katie Marsh Wilkins (Daryl), Gracia Laymon(Mike) & Debbie Stout (Kris) Angie Crews (Michael) & numerous great nieces & nephews.
A memorial service to honor the life of David will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 11 A.M. at Raiford Road Church, 9201 South State Road 121, Macclenny, Florida with Eddie Griffis and Dr. Joe Jordan, President CBM, International officiating. The visitation with the family will begin one hour prior to the service at 10 A.M. Guerry Funeral Home, US 90 E., Macclenny, FL has been entrusted with the services.
