Mr. Donald Eugene “Donnie” Roberts. Age 77, of Lake City, Florida died Wednesday, June 23, at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Roberts was born in Theresa, Florida and had lived in Lake City, Florida for the past 75 years. He worked for PCS Phosphate, Swift Creek Mine, White Springs, Florida for over 40 years until his retirement as mining coordinator. He attended the Salem Primitive Baptist Church loved his children, fishing, hunting, Gator football and his dog Tonto. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlis and Ruby L. Sweat Roberts and a grandson, Donald A. Conine. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon Roberts of Lake City, Florida: two daughters, Michelle (Liz Randall) Roberts and Lisa (Fred) Peloni both of Lake City, Florida: one sister, Joyce Hunter of Lake City, Florida: one brother, Ronald Roberts of Lake City, Florida: former son-in-law, Richard Hodson, Sr. of Lake City, Florida: Five grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Roberts will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, June 26, in the Salem Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Bicknell, Pastor, officiating and assisted by Rev. Herman Griffin. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Columbia County, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, June 25, at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W.
