Donnie "Don" Kite Obituary

Mr. Donnie Alvin “Don” Kite, age 86, of Fort White, Florida died Wednesday, Sept. 22, in the North Florida Regional Medical Center, Gainesville, Florida following an extended illness.  Mr. Kite was born in Lake Butler, Florida and had resided in Fort White, Florida for the past 30 years. He worked for the Coca Cola Company and was manager of their facilities in Lake City, Lakeland and Gainesville, Florida for many years until his retirement. He then worked for the Lake Butler Farm Center for over five years. He was a member of the Elim Baptist Church, Fort White, Florida and a former member of the Lake City Rotary Club and the Lake Shore Hospital Authority. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Sue Kite, his parents Alvin and Hazel Turner Kite. He is survived by three daughters, Donna (John) Stevens of Jacksonville, Florida, Sharon (Dave) Winston of Merritt Island, Florida and Nancy (Don) Pettyjohn of Lake City, Florida: two brothers, Ronnie Kite of Charlotte, North Carolina and Fred (Joyce) Kite of Middleburg, Florida: seven grandchildren, Jamie, Allison, Erin, Justin, Brittney, Jennifer and Sara.; five great-grandchildren also survive. A graveside funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Kite will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, Sept. 25, in the Swift Creek Cemetery, County Road 231-A,  Union County, Florida with Rev. J. Tom  Stalnaker officiating.  Gathering with the family will be one hour before services. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to Haven Hospice. GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W. Main Blvd., Lake City, Florida  is in charge of arrangements.
