Dorothy Hunter Obituary

Dorothy Nell Hunter passed away peacefully the morning of September 22nd, 2021. She was born to the late George and Georgia Hall of Branford Florida on October 18, 1940. She was the granddaughter of a Civil War veteran (in the battle of Olustee). Dorothy lived over 40 years in her country home with her best friend and husband, Louis. She worked at A & P and retired after 20 years with Publix. Dorothy loved the Lord and would often quote her favorite verse John 3:16, anytime she got a chance she would try and help the little ones to learn it. She enjoyed most of all getting together with her family and having a big meal. Nothing mattered to her more than cooking and feeding her family. Whether it was boiled peanuts (her specialty) or collard greens and cornbread, someone had better eat! She was passionate about her plants and flowers, which she passed down that love to her son and grandchildren. She was loved by so many, and we cannot wait until the day we all see her again! Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Louis J Hunter and her parents. She is survived by her son, Wendell Ash of Lake City, step-son Terry Hunter of St. Augustine, FL, grandchildren: Jason (Lora) Ash, Brent (April) Ash, April (Nathaniel) Schneider, great-grandchildren: Hunter Ash, Dakota Brewer, Kinsley Ash, Aidan Ash, Addison Ash, and Brysen Schneider. Great, great-granddaughter: Emeri Ash, her sister: JoAnn Wolfington, and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Hunter will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, Sept 27th, in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Branford, Florida with Rev. Romey Luke, Pastor of Falling Creek Chapel, officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10-11 A.M. at the cemetery. Guerry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
