Mr. George Johnson, age 79, of Lake City, Florida died Tuesday, Aug. 25th, at North Florida Regional Center, Gainesville, Florida following an extended illness. Mr. Johnson was born on October 13th, 1940 in Lake City, Florida. He worked as a crossing guard for the Columbia County Sheriff’s department for the last 15 years as a retirement job. He thoroughly enjoyed his job and helping out the community. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing at Cedar keys and spending time with family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Allie Johnson and his brother, Leonard Johnson, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Betty Lou Johnson, of Lake city, Fla; two sons, Chris (Kimberly) Johnson of Live Oak, Fla, and William (Alisha) Johnson of Ohio; Brother, Arthur Johnson, of Valdosta, Georgia; and two sister, Shirley Rogers of Lake City, Fla, and Betty Strickland of Gainesville, Fla. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Johnson will be held at 5 P.M. Friday, Aug. 28, in the Chapel of GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, Lake City, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be one hour before the service.
