Gloria "Bodie" Coleman

Mrs. Gloria “Bodie” Coleman, age 91, of Lake City, Florida died Wednesday, Jan 6th, in Baya Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lake City, Florida following a long illness.  She was born in Homerville, Georgia and grew up there until she married the love of her life Earl Coleman and moved to Lake City, Florida. Mrs. Coleman worked at the Cigar factory in Waycross, Ga as a young woman then became a rural mail carrier with the USPS. She loved being a seamstress which she did most of her life.

Mrs. Coleman loved to go fishing, travel to Moultrie, Ga to visit friends, and read. She had read almost every book in the Lake City Public Library but most of all she loved reading her Bible. She was a member of Christ Central Ministries for 20 years and loved teaching Sunday School.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Earl Coleman; her parents; Herbert and Mary Smith; one brother, JD Smith; two half-brothers, Gay and Philip Brinkley; and one sister, Doma Lucille Smith. She is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn (Donald) Koski  of Kingsland, Ga and Karen (Timmy) Carter of Nahunta, GA; one son, Kevin (Selena) Coleman of Valdosta, GA; two brothers Ted Smith of Homerville, GA and Herman Brinkley of Lake City, FL.; and her best friend and caretaker, Freddie Johnson of Lake City, FL. A graveside service to honor the life of Mrs. Coleman will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, Jan 11th at Corinth Cemetery, Lake City, FL. GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W.
