Mrs. Hylda H. Rogers, age 67, of White Springs, Florida died Sunday, June 27, at her home. Hylda was born on April 20, 1954 in Live Oak, Florida to parents Robert Hurley, Sr. and Lucille Davis with 5 siblings. She was a beloved Control Room Sergeant at Columbia and Hamilton Correctional Institutions for many years where she gained her second family. She was our cheerleader through it all and will be greatly missed. Hylda, best known as Granny, was the light to the darkness for all. She loved the Lord with all of heart and never let a second go by without being a witness to his love and mercy. Granny was always there for anyone who needed her, she never met a stranger. She was a devoted member and Youth Leader with Long Branch Congregational Methodist Church, White Springs, Florida. Hylda was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Rogers, her parents and her sister, Roberta. She was blessed with 4 beautiful children, Jackie (Bill) Hinson, Andy Wilson, Nathaniel (Brandy) Tomlinson and Betty Lu Sapp (Roger Olive). The Lord blessed her with 23 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, especially her darling two, Ashley Brown and Michaela Reams. A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Rogers will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, July 1, in the Watertown Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Johnnie Hobbs of St. George, Georgia officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, White Springs, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6:30 to 8: 30 P.M.
