James Ray Bowman

Mr. James Ray Bowman, age 79, of Lake City, Florida passed away on August 18th, 2021 at North Florida Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. James, also known as Buddy to his family and J.R. to many, was born on September 2, 1941 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. As a young man he joined the Navy as an aircraft mechanic. He worked for Timco Aviation while he lived in Lake City and loved his job. He was a member of the Hopeful Baptist Church of Lake City also. Buddy enjoyed going to Disneyworld with the love of life Ruth Nash, eating many breakfasts with his good friend, Charlie Burton and most of all he was an avid football and Gator fan. He is survived by his sister Catherine Bowman Janniche; sister-in-law Mary Bowman Weiss; niece Shawn Janniche Noe and Chris Janniche, Michael Bowman and Bobbi Lynn Bowman. Several great and great-great nieces and nephews survive also. He was preceded in death by his parents James Leonard and Melissa Redding Bowman and his brother Robert Lee Bowman, and the love of his life Ruth Nash. A graveside funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Bowman will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, Aug. 27, in the Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery, Lake City, Florida. GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W.
