James Harman Obituary

James Clarence Harman, 18 , of Glen St. Mary, FL died unexpectedly at home Saturday, May 6, 2023. James attended Baker County High School where he was a senior. His graduation would have been May 19. It was a day he was looking forward to. James was a passionate gamer. He enjoyed anime and had a rare talent for drawing and creating artwork. He spent his outdoor time with a fishing pole and had a love for all living creatures. He was known in his family for his manners and respect for others. James’ death was only 18 months after that of his twin brother, Shaun Allen Harman. As younger boys, James was his brother’s mentor, shadow and caretaker, the older twin wanting to be the best big brother he could possibly be to his younger sibling who had been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at three weeks old. Born on July 25, 2004 in Jacksonville, he was the son of Rebecca Sue Smiley, of Glen St Mary. He is survived by his mother and two younger sisters, Bridgelyn Harman and Brenda Jackson. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother Terri Harrison of Homerville, Georgia: paternal grandparents, Mary and Cecil Harman of Macclenny, FL; and other family, friends and classmates. In addition to his brother, Shaun, James was preceded in death by his great-great-grandparents William and Bernice Crawford, Dollie Mae (Burnsed) Harris: maternal great-grandparents J. L and Annie Ruth Burnsed, and Edith and James Smiley. In lieu of or in addition to flowers, memorial donations to help offset the sudden funeral arrangements can be made directly to the family via the funeral home over the phone or in person. A funeral service to honor the life of James Harman will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, May 13, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Romey Luke officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10 to 11 A.M. (one hour before services). Interment will be in North Prong Cemetery, Glen St. Mary, Florida.
