James Key Obituary

Mr. James Miller Bynes Key, age 73, of Fort White, Florida passed away on Tuesday, March 14, at his home following and extended illness. Mr. Key was born in Waynesboro, Georgia and lived in Kissimmee, Florida for many years before moving to Fort White, Florida in 2006. He worked for the Osceola County Sheriff's Department for 30 years, 16 years as a K-9 officer, and the balance of his career as Director of Fleet Maintenance until his retirement. He was a member of the Elim

Baptist Church, an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, a Master Mason of the Orange Blossom Lodge #80 of Kissimmee, Florida for 40 years and a Florida Gator booster since 1972. He was an avid Nascar fan as well as a life long Gator fan. He also loved re-building old Bronco automobiles, coaching Little League baseball and having Bassett hounds as pets. Mr. Key was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Eual and Clelon Laberta Deering Key, six brothers and one sister. He is survived by six siblings, Juanita Miller of Jupiter, Florida, Carol (Ray) Sikes of Winter Haven, Florida, Calvin Key of Chiefland, Florida, Teresa (Greg) Rayburn and Beki (Roy) Hunter both of Leesburg, Georgia and Gregg (Amy) Key of Parksville, South Carolina. Many nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Key will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, March 20, in the Elim Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Sweat, Pastor, officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10 to 11 A.M. Monday (One hour before services) at the church. GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W. Main Blvd., Lake City, Florida is in charge of arrangements.
