Mr. James Ellis Mauldin, age 83, of Lake City, Florida died Monday, May 23, in the V.A. Medical Center, Lake City, Florida following an extended illness. Mr. Mauldin was born in Boston, Georgia and lived in Lake Butler, Florida before moving to Lake City 75 years ago. He worked as a maintenance engineer with Florida State Road Department for over 20 years and also was co-owner of Alachua Auto Auction, Gainesville, Florida for 15 years. He was a member of the Lake City Church of Christ, a former member of the U.S. Coast Guard, a graduate of Columbia High School Class of 1956, former president of Phillips Pasture Hunting Club and always enjoyed the outdoors with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Clara Mae NeSmith Mauldin. He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne (Kevin) Morton of Lake City, Florida; his son, Johnny (Karri) Mauldin of Lake City, Florida; his companion of 25 years, Dianne Williams and her family and her children, Cassi Williams and Wesley (Lea) Williams and grandchildren, Aubriella and Lana Williams; his brother, Carl McCormick Mauldin Jr. of Destin, Florida; his grandchildren, Scott (Lindsey) Morton, Lindsey (George) Pridgeon, Jessica (Jeremy) Hunter, Dalton Mauldin and Kellen (Angel) Snider; Great-grandchildren, Lucas, Caleb and Micah Morton, Gavin and Gage Pridgeon, Abbey, Olive and Jax Hunter and Ryker and Zadie Snider. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Mauldin will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, May 27, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Mr. Jimbo Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, Lake City, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10 to 11 A.M. Friday (One hour before services) at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W. Main Blvd., Lake City, Florida.
