Jerry Wayne Sisk

Jerry Wayne Sisk was 89 when he passed peacefully in his retirement living facility. He was very social, still reading and cracking his cute jokes until the days prior to his passing. He was married to Myrtle Kathleen (Kathy) Sisk for 63 years before she went to see the Lord in April 2019. Jerry was born on September 28, 1933 in Providence, Kentucky. Kathy and Jerry were united in marriage in 1956 in Providence, Kentucky by Reverend Benjamin Connway. They had three daughters: Sherry, Darlene and Michelle. In the late 1960s the family moved to Macclenny, Florida. Jerry was the principal at Baker County High School for many years. He continued working in the School District holding many additional positions. He retired from the district after many amazing 29 years of service. He successfully completed at total 41 years of service in education. He was well loved and respected by all of his students and fellow staff. While staying active in his role as a High School principal He and Kathy raised three daughters. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Macclenny for 50+ years. Jerry was actively involved as a church member as well as the Pastor to Senior Adults for many years. His favorite past times were spending time with family, watching sports, he was an avid reader and a huge football fan. He was very proud and blessed to be a father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather. Jerry was a man of God, incredibly dedicated to serving the Lord and His flock. He was a compassionate man, unconditionally loving his family, church and all the students he mentored as principal. He lived life with passion for those hallmarks of his 89 years. He was a jokester and a loving spirit even his final days. We celebrate his return to the Lord while we grieve his loss to those left behind. He was a man that changed lives, was unforgettable in character and deed and we know that the world is a better place because Jerry, our beloved Jerry, was a part of it. Jerry was preceded in death by his loving wife Myrtle Kathleen (Kathy) Sisk of 63 years, and by his parents William Robert Sisk, Mattie Eva Shelton Sisk, his grandparents William Travis Sisk and Lelia Pearl Sisk. He was also preceded in death by his younger brother Byron Lee Sisk and his wife Betty Sisk. Jerry is survived by his children Sherry Kay May, Kim Darlene (& Dolphus) Barton, and Lisa Michelle Spoon, 13 Grandchildren: John (& Ashley) May, Kimberly (& John) Roach, Cody May, Samantha (& Clayton) Daugherty, Courtney (& Kory) Freemyer, Richard (& Holly) Barton, Kevin (& LaDonna) Barton, Amanda (& Bryan) Fort, Hanna (& George) Seay, Branden (& Heather) Johnson, Crystal (& Michael) Buchanan, Randy (& Victoria) Spoon, and Shannon Spoon. He was also blessed with 32 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Sisk will be held at 2:30 P.M., Monday, November 7th in the Woodlawn Cemetery with Rev. David Thomas officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 1 to 2 P.M., Monday, November 7th in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home.
