Jewel "Judy" Harvey Obituary

Jewel "Judy" Harvey, a devoted mother, grandmother, and a lifelong member of the Macclenny community, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2023. Judy, with her fiery red hair, embraced her unique beauty and loved being a redhead. Her vibrant spirit and distinct appearance reflected her lively personality and zest for life. Born on January 24, 1946, in Colorado Springs, CO to the late Dr. John Ethelbert Watson II and Lillian Adams Watson, before moving to Macclenny, FL at the age of two, Judy grew up alongside her brother, John Ethelbert Watson III. She graduated from Baker County High School, where she enjoyed cheerleading, playing basketball and being a Majorette. Judy had a passion for baking and cherished the time spent with friends. Volunteering at the First United Methodist Church of Macclenny brought her joy and fulfillment. She also had a love for animals that knew no bounds. Her beloved dogs held a special place in her heart, providing her with unconditional love and companionship. Sewing and quilting were among Judy's favorite hobbies. Her talent as a seamstress was evident in the beautiful dresses she lovingly created for her grandchildren. However, it was in the art of quilting that Judy found true delight. Attending quilting conventions with her dear friends, she immersed herself in the world of quilting and shared her passion with others. Quilts became her heartfelt gifts, crafted with love, and cherished by their recipients. Judy had a unique way of imparting wisdom through her cheeky sayings and advice. Her family and loved ones will remember her spirited personality and the lasting impact she made on their lives. Jewel "Judy" Harvey is preceded in death by her parents, Lillian, and Bert Watson, as well as her brother, John Watson. She is survived by her aunt, Betty Butler of Arkansas, children, Frankie Lynn Higginbotham (Scott) of Tallahassee, and Delanor Harvey of Macclenny, and her grandchildren, Lilly, Caleb, Laney, Abby, Abe, and Mary Cate. They will forever carry her memory in their hearts and cherish the moments they shared together. The service will be Saturday, May 20 at 11 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Macclenny with lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the First United Methodist Church of Macclenny.
