Jimmie Douglas Keen aka “DaDa”, 80yrs old of Macclenny Florida passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Shands Hospital Gainesville on Friday September 9, 2022. He had succumbed to injuries he received during a tragic accident. Jimmie was born January 30, 1942 to the late Danley Matthew Keen and Verna B Clifton. He enjoyed gardening, listening to audio books, watching old Westerns on TV, cooking, tinkering at his barn and woodwork. Jimmie worked as a supervisor at Maxwell House (Jacksonville, FL) for 32 yrs until his retirement April 1999. Jimmie was a US army Veteran. He served our country from December 1965 until his honorable discharge in December 1968. He was a Private E-1 as an auto mechanic and earned Expert Rifle M-14 He is survived by his wife of 56yrs Edith “Susan”. Together they raised 2 sons, Joe Keen (Jen), Derek Keen (Ashli) and 1 daughter Leslie Gainey (Barry). He has 6 grandchildren (Lil Jimmie, Cody, Luke, Kaylee, Caleb & Karissa). He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren. Jimmie was know to his family as “DaDa”, as he was given this name by his eldest grandchild (Lil Jimmie). He is also survived by his cousin and best friend Johnny Clifton. Following a graveside service to be officiated by Pastor Woody Crews, Jimmie will be laid to rest in the Keen Family Cemetery, Macclenny, Fl.
