Mrs. Jo Anne Smith, age 86, of Macclenny, FL passed away Thursday, February 2nd at Community Hospice in Jacksonville, FL. Jo Anne was born in Auburndale, FL to the late Wayne and Jimmy Grace Kelley Exum. Jo Anne was a resident of Baker County since she moved here in 1970. Always a hard and dedicated worker, she co-owned and operated the Badcock Furniture store in Macclenny for 30 years and then handled accounts payable for R.H. Davis Oil for another 12 years until her retirement in 2017. She enjoyed spending time at the Council on Aging and was a participant in their daily activities. Jo Anne was a member of the Macclenny Church of Christ. She loved gardening outdoor plants, was an avid reader, and spent her life traveling with friends and family, including her husband of the last 15 years, Michael J. Minerva. She is preceded in death by her parents, and son, James Lee Smith. In addition to her husband, Jo Anne is survived by her daughter in law, Anita D. Smith, and her grandson, James M. Smith, both of Macclenny, FL. A memorial service to honor her will be held at 11 A.M., February 16th in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Kitching officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10 to 11 A.M. (one hour before the service).
