Mr. John Dwight “Johnny” Manning, Sr., age 74, of Macclenny, Florida died Thursday, July 15, at his home following an extended illness. He was born in Macclenny, Florida to the late Sylvester and Maxine Hodges Manning on June 19, 1947 and he was a life long resident of Baker County. He worked in the nursery and landscaping business and also worked in pulpwood, ironworking and auto mechanics as a younger man. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mr. Manning was also preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Ellis, brother and sister-in-law, James and Hilda Manning. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bernice Manning of Macclenny, Fla.: children, Beverly McCray of Macclenny, Fla., Dwight (Paige) Manning St. Johns County, Fla. and Jason (Jane) Manning of Lake Butler, Fla.: grandchildren, Summer (Forrest) Elledge, Gavin Manning, Mason Manning, Shailey Manning and Mallory Manning: one great-granddaughter, Ava Manning: two brothers, Wyman Manning of Baldwin, Fla. and Wayne Manning of Georgia: three sisters, Janice Sanford of Starke, Fla., Jeanie (Calvin) Edwards of Moniac, Ga. and Janet “Cookie” (Tommy) Lauramore of Macclenny, Fla. A graveside funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Manning will be held at 5 P.M. Saturday, July 17, in the Crossroads to Victory Cemetery, Raiford, Florida with Rev. Donnie Williams, officating and assisted by Rev. Dale Hodges, Sr. GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, U.S. 90 East, Macclenny, Florida is in charge of arrangements.
