Juanelle Bennett Obituary

On Saturday, November 16, God wrapped his loving arms around Juanelle and welcomed her home into his kingdom at the age of 85, at St. Vincent’s Hospice of Jacksonville, Jacksonville, FL after a fierce battle with cancer. Juanelle was born on July 31, 1934 to Arthur and Susie Burnsed Combs in Taylor, FL and was a lifelong resident of Baker County. She was a passionate follower of Jesus who lived her life to share his love with others, and had an unwavering faith that was proven always. She never gave less than all of herself to each person, task, or endeavor and possessed the unique ability to make each person in her life feel exceedingly special. She was a friend to the lonely, a champion of many, and a kind and compassionate person. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Macclenny. Juanelle was a graduate of Baker County High School, Class of 1952, and was her class Salutatorian. Juanelle retired, after over 35 years, from the State of Florida on November 21, 1989, as the longest serving judicial assistant for Baker County. At her retirement banquet, she was presented a framed portrait that hangs where the portraits of former presiding judges hang. Many spoke of her years of care, compassion, and kindness, including a pride of Circuit Court Judges. Juanelle was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Susie Burnsed Combs, her daughter, Sharon Kay Jackson, her sister, Mary Roselle Bodager, her previous husband, Gregory W. Methvin, and son in law, Timothy James Hooper. She will be dearly missed by her husband of over 36 years, Tommy P. Bennett of Glen St. Mary, FL: daughters, Mary Catherine Hooper of Glen St. Mary, FL and Debra Strickland (Dennis) of Jacksonville, FL. She is also survived by her step sons, Tommy Paul Bennett (Tina) of Palatka, FL and David Stephen Bennett of Savannah, GA. Many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles also survive. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Macclenny Primitive Baptist Church, 94 North Blvd. E., Macclenny, FL, with Elder David Crawford, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 1 to 2 P.M. at the church (one hour prior to the funeral service). We have lost a sweet angel on Earth and Heaven has welcomed a beautiful daughter home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Guerry Funeral Home, US 90 E., Macclenny, FL.
