Mrs. Laura Fern Fortner, age 92, of Live Oak, Florida died Thursday, June 21, in the North Florida Regional Medical Center, Gainesville, Florida following a sudden illness. Mrs. Fortner Was born in Georgetown, Illinois and resided in Golden and Ft. Collins, Colorado before moving to Live Oak, Florida 17 years ago. She worked as a quality control inspector for General Electric Corp. and Hewlett-Packard Corp. for over 37 years until her retirement. She enjoyed the out-doors, country western music, western square dancing and cooking. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Paul R. Fortner of Live Oak, Florida: Three children, Glen ( Marcy) Davis and Mark Davis both of Oldtown, Florida and Laura ( Robert) Austin of Ridgefarm, Illinois: Three grandchildren, Rob Krabel, Steve Davis and Eric Davis: Four great-grandchilren, Bryce Krabel, Karrington Krabel, Lacy Krabel and Jackson Davis. A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Fortner will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 27, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Cagney Tanner officiating. Visitation and gathering of friends and family will be from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. ( One hour before service) at the funeral home.
